Original painting, acrylic on canvas. This painting explores my ongoing theme of dualities of human existence, conscious v unconscious, balancing the chaotic forces we are unable to control, whether emotional, environmental, physical, with those aspects of daily life that we can exert an illusion of control over. My subject matter is also very closely tied to my creative process, where initial layers of paint are removed with water to reveal the painting's history, then final layers are added using fines line and glazing. Part of a series of two paintings (with Epiphany 2).
